Greg Walsh
General Counsel
Greg Walsh is Hutch’s newly appointed General Counsel. He brings over 30 years of experience in financial services to the role. His extensive career includes foundational years at Herbert Smith Freehills, followed by a significant tenure as the General Counsel at GT Insurance, where he excelled at guiding the company through complex legal and regulatory environments and fostering growth and stability. Further enriching his global perspective, Greg spent four years in the UK as the Head of Legal for the life business at Zurich Financial Services, gaining invaluable international experience. His consultancy period at Mercer allowed him to hone his business and client relationship skills.
Greg is well-prepared for his role. He holds an Australian Practising Certificate as a solicitor from the Law Society of NSW, a Diploma of Law from the Legal Practitioners Admission Board NSW, a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Technology Sydney, and a Diploma of General Insurance from the Australian College of Commerce & Management.
Greg is excited to join Hutch because of their innovative approach and potential to disrupt the insurance market with cutting-edge technology and practices. Although he is new to Hutch's specific lines of strata, construction, and professional indemnity insurance, his background in commercial motor, marine, and public liability insurance equips him to contribute meaningfully. Greg advocates for simplifying products and processes to facilitate broker interactions. He strongly believes in teamwork and nurtures and supports his colleagues to foster mutual growth and success.
Outside the office, Greg is committed to fitness and the pursuit of happiness. He enjoys gym sessions, running, tennis, and swimming, often followed by relaxing coffee chats. He also delights in spending quality time with family and friends, indulging in his love for sports, drama, comedy and tinkering around the house.
