Gayle Harmar brings over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, covering both personal and commercial lines in the UK and Australia. Her career has been marked by her passion for dynamic, fast-paced environments and her commitment to using technology to improve service delivery for customers, underwriters, and capacity providers.
Before joining Hutch, Gayle was the Product Owner for Partner Integrations at Chubb, where she led API integration projects that connected the insurer with partners across various products and technologies. Before that, as the Underwriting Manager at an Insurtech, she played a crucial role in driving the company’s growth from $80 million to $250 million in three years.
Gayle has a diploma in insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute and is a Senior Associate of ANZIIF. This foundation, combined with her extensive industry experience, provides her with a deep understanding of insurance products and markets.
At Hutch, Gayle is excited to contribute to the company’s ambitious plans. She is particularly eager to apply her expertise in integrated products on platforms like SCTP and Sunrise while embracing Hutch's ethos, which aligns closely with her own values. Her experience across products, including Business Pack, Home, Landlords, and Motor, as well as specialised areas like Commercial Marine and Private Pleasure Craft, positions her to make a significant impact.
A strong advocate for teamwork, Gayle values collaboration both internally and with external partners, such as brokers. She emphasises the importance of broker feedback in improving services, enhancing technology, and differentiating offerings with the best-in-market wording.
Gayle balances her professional achievements with an active personal life outside of work. She spends time with her two young children, supports their sports and activities, and pursues her fitness goals. Gayle finds motivation in the insurance industry's ever-changing landscape, viewing it as a space ripe for innovation and new ways of thinking.
