[SYDNEY, THURSDAY 30 JULY 2026]  Hutch Underwriting has officially launched its Commercial Strata product to the market. Now available exclusively via Sunrise Exchange (Code HUTCS), the product has been designed to simplify commercial strata insurance quoting time to minutes.

Commercial Strata is Hutch’s seventh product since launching in Nov 2022. It is the third property product, following the launch of Residential Landlords a year ago. It is also Hutch’s first commercial property product.

Hutch Commercial Strata is an eight-section policy and can accommodate up to 79% residential units, below the 26th parallel. Over 1,400 occupancies are within appetite. These include retail, office, medical, and some manufacturing and wholesale tenancies (which will be assessed on a case-by-case basis). No ANZSIC-level occupancy required for straightforward low-risk tenancies.

Section 1: Buildings & Common Contents

With a maximum Combined Building and Common Contents Sum Insured of $25M available for new business, this section covers the reinstatement of Buildings and Common Areas following Damage to the Insured Property. Optional covers for Flood (where available); Additional Catastrophe Cover, and Unit Owners’ Fixtures and Improvements.

Section 2: Property Owner’s Legal Liability

With a maximum available limit of up to $30M, this section covers awards, judgments and legal costs for compensation claims relating to Property Damage and Personal Injury that occurs in connection with Your ownership of the Insured Property.

Section 3: Voluntary Workers Personal Accident

With a maximum available limit of up to $300k / $3k weekly, this section provides compensation for death or bodily injury suffered by Voluntary Workers as a result of an accident that occurs whilst they are working at the Insured Property.

Section 4: Fidelity Guarantee

Section 5: Office Bearers Liability

With a maximum available limit of up to $10M, this section provides cover for Awards, judgments and legal costs for compensation claims relating to claims against Officers of the Body Corporate.

Section 6: Machinery Breakdown

With a maximum available limit of up to $500k, this section is designed to repair or provide replacement following Damage as a result of the breakdown of a machine or boiler explosion or collapse of the boiler or pressure vessel insured as part of the building.

Section 7: Government audit, health and safety, and legal expenses

Made up of three parts with maximum available limits of up to $25k, $100k, $50k respectively. Part A: Professional fees and expenses to handle government audits and investigations. Part B: Legal expenses appealing against health and safety notices and rulings. And Part C: Legal expenses defending litigation brought against the Body Corporate.

Section 8: Cyber

An optional extension covering Loss of funds allocated to or set aside for the management of Insured Property due to Cybercrime, including social engineering fraud, phishing, phreaking or other cyber fraud. This extension also provides cover for defence costs incurred as a result of a Data Breach.

Cover is subject to the terms, conditions, sub-limits, and exclusions in the Policy Disclosure Statement.

The policy includes a market-first pet liability. This provides cover for the body corporate's legal liability for accidental injury to or death of a resident's domestic pet in common areas.

Claims are handled by Hutch’s growing in-house, Sydney-based team of fourteen.

Like all of Hutch’s property products, Commercial Strata quoting is quick and address-specific, featuring an underwriting question set designed to enable automatic decisions for a majority of submissions.

Submissions received via Sunrise can be entered, quoted and bound within seven minutes, based on internal testing across 21 occupancies. Any submission that triggers a referral also triggers the service levels Hutch is known for, with a twelve-month average of 75% of property referrals responded to within one business day.
