[SYDNEY, MONDAY 11 AUGUST 2025] --- Hutch Underwriting has today launched its new Landlord Insurance product, now available via SCTP and Ebix Sunrise Exchange. The product provides cover for residential property owners who lease on a short or long-term basis with optional rent protections and a market-first built-in Cyber section. It provides brokers with a rapid quoting tool and coverage of the complexities that today's landlords face.
Hutch Landlord Insurance is designed for residential landlords renting out standalone dwellings, terraces, duplexes and non-strata units to tenants on either short or long-term agreements. The product offers Building, Contents or combined cover, along with protection for legal liability and digital threats.
Quoting is quick and specific to addresses, featuring an underwriting question set that aims to provide automatic decisions for over ninety per cent of submissions. Any submission that triggers a referral also triggers the service levels that Hutch has become famous for.
“We know brokers are juggling time, referrals, and client expectations,” said Hutch’s CUO and co-founder, Dominique Vagi. “So we developed a question set that takes the guesswork out of underwriting and gives brokers modern cover options without the complexity.”
Cover That Goes Beyond Bricks and Mortar
Every Hutch Landlord Insurance policy includes:
- Up to $2M Building and $400k Contents cover
- Built-in flood and accidental damage (where available)
- Optional covers for theft by tenant, rent default, and loss of rent
- Up to $70k for chemical decontamination and $20k for rent default
- Property Owner’s Legal Liability up to $20M
- Cyber protection is included as standard. This includes data breach defence costs and cybercrime losses up to $10,000
“A cyber loss might not be visible from the outside. But for a landlord, it can derail everything from rent collection to tenancy data. That’s why every policy includes cyber cover, with no bolt-ons or tech-speak,” said Vagi.
Built for Brokers. Backed by Lloyd’s
Hutch’s latest offering, Landlord Insurance, is the fifth product in their lineup, following the successful launches of Hutch Strata, Annual Construction, Professional Indemnity, and the recently introduced Trade Pack. This new product is led by Gayle Harmar, Hutch's Head of Personal Lines, who has over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, covering both personal and commercial lines in the UK and Australia. The landlord insurance product will be supported by the same team that currently manages Hutch’s strata-related inquiries, ensuring that residential property insurance brokers are already familiar with this support team and their high service levels.
Hutch continues to focus on products that provide real-world protection with smart underwriting question sets and processes that reduce administrative tasks for brokers as much as possible. This allows brokers to spend less time chasing referrals and more time helping clients.
Quote submissions are now live via SCTP and Ebix Sunrise Exchange (under product code HUTHLL.) More details, including product fact sheets and underwriting appetite, are available at hutchunderwriting.com.au/landlord-insurance.
